Sea-kayaking around South Lofoten (North Norway)

With special campplaces and a beautiful sunset.

The map of South Lofoten with the route marked on it:
Green line is the kayak part and the pink line is the walking part.

On Thursday August 21st 2008 I came back from my Ski-tour in Oscar 2 Land (Spitsbergen). I Looked at the weatherforecast and saw that the long term weather forecast for Lofoten was good. This was really good news!!.
On Friday I took the early morning flight from Longyearbyen to Oslo-Gardermoen, driving up north the same day. Picking up my sea-kayak in the Sjoa valley and continued driving up north.
On Saterday evening I reached Bodo in North Norway. I was really excited that I could start this trip (Sea-kayaking around South Lofoten) with nice weather.
Lofoten is one of the best places in Norway (the world??), as long as the weather is nice. I was making all my breakfast and lunches for the next days on the ferry boat from Bodo to Moskenes (point 16 on the Lofoten map). No time to waste!

Sunday August 24th 2008: Packing day and paddling in the Reinefjorden.

A nice place to start paddling!!

Monday August 25th 2008: 1st day of the trip. Paddling around the south point.
This day I paddled the longest distance of this trip. 36 km. It was nice weather and I wanted to paddle around the South point under good conditions. For sure paddling around the South point of Lofoten is the place to test the stability of your sea-kayak and the stability of yourself!!

Calm water at the east coast to start with (below point 1 on the map)
